X´s Intro Stage
(MMX5)
Click here to download the .mid.

Length: 1 minutes, 9 seconds

Difficulty: 8/10

General info:
A fast-paced, light tune that plays in the introduction stage if you choose to play as X.

About the original:
I love this song. It´s headstrong, purposeful and determined, just like X himself. While Zero´s stage theme sounds a lot more serious and dark, X´s theme sounds slightly innocent. The melody line in this song caught my ear immediately.

Motivation:
This is the song that started it all, you might say. It was the very first song I laid my hands on. Why? I think it was because I suddenly realised that I could use pitchbends to accomplish those cool slides the saw wave was doing (portamento). Also, I had been humming the tune for weeks. I had to sequence it to get it out of my head.

Sequencing the MIDI:
My very first attempt at sequencing an MMX song, and still the one I think turned out best! It was a lot of fun to do, and I learned lots in the process - mostly about pitchbend techniques. Prior to this .mid´s completion, I had only used small pitchbends. Now, I learned how to make them stretch over an entire octave and what numbers to use to make them fall correctly into place without sounding wierd! Thus, the sawtooth line in this melody is sort of a testament to pitchbending - it´s mostly built up of long notes that are pitchbended to simulate the portamento sliding effect. Listen and enjoy!
As a side note, the hammond organ part is a lot of guesswork - I´m still not sure whether it´s actually there in the song. It did add to the general feel of purposeness in the theme, though, so I´ve let it stay as it is.

About the ending result:
For a first attempt and sequencing this advanced a song, I think it turned out very nice.
